John Lewis Blender

The brief for this project was to add value to a product through the use of restyling and design choices which suited the brand identity of the client. The client for this project was John Lewis, making the target market for this product the middle class and potentially the higher end of the working class. The John Lewis brand mainly consists of the three main colourways; white steel, stainless steel and gunmetal. All of these colours have a stainless steel material as the main body making this a requirement if I intend on staying within the John Lewis brand identity.

Once John Lewis characteristics were identified, I drew a few pages of quick initial ideas to get some ideas flowing. I then picked the 3 i liked the most and developed these further until i had 3 concepts to present to my tutor. We decided to pick concept 3 which was taken into Solidworks and developed. I bought a blender in the research stage of the project which i used to get the correct dimensions for the motor mount. I used the motor from this blender in my product to prove it would fit. Once the Solidworks model was finished it and the motor fit into the blender, it was imported into Keyshot along with a kitchen model as a backdrop. With this Solidworks file i also made a physical model out of chemical wood using a cnc. This project was a helpful showing how value could be added to a design through aesthetics.
